“San Francisco is a major city in California” is a fact that nobody can deny. This city is locally known as “the city by the bay”. It is the cultural, financial and commercial hub of the Northern California. Although huge in terms of offerings, it is physically quite compact. This city is spread over an area of six miles square. It is the most densely settled city in the state of California;however, it is the second most densely populated major city in The United States. English is the major language among the locals. Yet, when in San Francisco, you will come across a Chinese population that speaks Cantonese. Spanish is also common.
It is a magical place. If you have never been here, you must put it on your list of places to go. This city keeps visitors on their toes; for it has so many beautiful places to offer. The traffic here is not as bad as in New York or L.A. Even better, San Francisco is of a manageable size, so it is possible to do ‘Ten Great Things’ here in a day and see most of the city.
It is totally disagreeable with standard observations that San Francisco is the most European of American cities. People are very pleasant and hospitable. They smile a lot and always put the other person first. One can never find a place more tolerant of alternative life styles. You are always treated better in San Francisco even if sometimes you don’t deserve it. There is no other city like this one where you can walk through so many diverse and culturally rich neighborhoods; you are never out of sight of ‘the hills of San Francisco’. Nature listens very close here.
It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that San Francisco has only one drawback if any: it is very hard to leave. It is said about San Francisco that, ”one day if I go to heaven, I’ll look around and say: it ain’t bad but it ain’t San Francisco”.
San Francisco prides itself on its openness to diversity in race, gender, creed and personal life style. This trait is widely considered to be one of the defining features of the city and it draws both visitors and relocates alike. These are only a few aspects of the city that make San Francisco one of the most visited cities in the world and the list goes on and on.
