The city of Linköping is the fifth biggest municipality in Sweden and is the capital of Östergötland County. Its uniqueness lies in the fact that it has an advantage of being a major city, with all that it entails yet retaining the cozy quiet small town feel, and that’s  largely becomes an advantage for this city. It is one of the oldest cities of Sweden.

Get in

By plane the city could be reached by three airports named Skavsta, Linkoping & Norrkoping airports. The shuttle service is available on all locations. By train it’s equally manageable when the station is ten minutes’ walk from the main city. And the road long distance buses leave from Fjärrbussterminalen. The place could easily be reached by car and is 200 km from Stockholm E4, 45 km south of  Norrköping on the E4. Taxis are the only expensive side, make sure you see the driver reset before you start the journey.

Must see

Linköping Castle and the Cathedral dating back to 13 century, are shouldn’t be missed when visiting the city. The public buildings situated around the hill crest are the public library.

Gamla Linköping (Old Linköping) is an open air museum. It is in the west of the city. Beautiful buildings are present over there. The citizens of the city enjoy taking part of the life, as you will see them dressed up traditionally quite often. Not to miss to buy locally produced chocolates and candies. You shouldn’t miss the organ concertos and the leisure walks around the city.

If you are a fun loving sportsperson, don’t miss the charm of a hockey game, at Linköping HC’s arena – Cloetta Center. Boat trip on the kinda canal, is highly advisable to all age groups. For the shopping freaks this city offers a lot, even apart from painting, which is the highlighting feature of the things to buy, some others are wood art shop, Cloetta Chokladbod. There are a lot of places to eat and drink across the span of the city, apart there are many nice coffee houses and cafes by the main square, all of these are located on the central parts of the city. For people who like to drink you can go to De Klomp, Harry’s pub and Plaza. Would be a good drinking experience. Systembolaget is the state owned monopoly liquor store. Hotels are available to suite all budgets.
